Barack Hussain Obama Junior or Barack Obama is one of the most popular U.S Presidents. He is also the first black President of the United States. He was born on 4th July in the year 1961 in Hawaii, United States. Obama’s father was born in Nyanza province, which is in Kenya. He served as a government economist there. Obama’s mother Ann Dunham was from Wichita, Kansas. Michelle Robinson, who is Obama’s spouse, came from a working class family and the two got married in the year 1992.

Obama had even used alcohol, marijuana and cocaine during his teenage years.

Obama parents were still students when he was born. They were studying at University of Hawaii, Minoa. Barack Sr. was the first student from African county who studied at University of Hawaii. Barack Obama had a very normal childhood and he used to herd goats along with his father, Obama Sr. Obama’s nickname was Barry. He was just two years old when his parents got divorced. He saw his biological father just once after the divorce. Obama’s mother then married an Indonesian student who studied at East-West center in University of Hawaii. His name was Lolo Soetoro and he worked in an oil industry.

In 1967, when Obama was six years old, the family migrated to Jakarta. Soon his half sister half-sister Maya Soetoro–Ng was born. Obama then went to school in Jakarta; he also learned Indonesian language there.

When Obama was ten years old he again went back to Hawaii to live with his grandparents, Stanley and Madelyn Dunham.

Soon after, his mother and sister came to Hawaii to live with them. He enrolled himself at Punahou Academy, Honolulu and graduate from the academy in the year 1979. This was the first time when Obama experienced racism and became conscious of discrimination. By now, he has started realizing what the difference between “Black” and “White” is. Obama got into bad habits in his teenage and consumed alcohol, marijuana and even cocaine.

After some years, Barack Obama decided to meet his ancestors in Africa and went there to find his roots. He traveled to Kenya after the death of his father to meet his relatives for the first time.

For a time being he became a community organizer and lived in Harlem but soon he moved to Chicago to work in a social service organization, which was backed by a church. This organization was very active in that area and was also one of the most improvised communities of United States of America. After working there for some time, Barack went to Occidental College, which is situated in L.A. After completing his first year in Occidental College, he was transferred to Columbia University, NY City. He graduated in political science from this university in the year 1983. The year 1990 was a memorable year for Barack Obama as he became the first African-American editor of the prestigious Harvard Law Review. He studied at Harvard and after completing his studies he became a lawyer.

Barack met Michelle in the year 1989, while he was doing an internship. The two fell in love and decided to marry each other. The wedding took place on 18th October 1992.

Starting of 20th century changed the entire of life of Barack Obama. By this time, he was absolutely unaware that in some time he is going to be the most powerful man on this earth. In 2000, he for the first time bid for U.S congress. Year 2005, was the year full of surprise for him as he was considered as one of the most influential people in the world and in 2007, a popular U.S magazine counted him among top ten people who have the potential of changing the entire world. Soon, he became one of the youngest senator in the U.S history and the fact that he was of African-American origin made him even more popular. In 2006, Barack excelled in another field, i.e. music. He won a Grammy award for the category of Best Spoken Word, which was taken from his autobiography “Dream of My father”. He repeated the same feat in the year 2008, when he again won a Grammy award for the same category for the album “The Audacity of Hope”.

Obama’s father died on 24th November 1982 in a tragic car accident. His mother became a victim of ovarian cancer and breathed her last in 1995.

In 2004, he got selected for the senate as a Democrat. He represented the U.S state of Illinois and soon became one of the popular leaders of the American senate.

The speech that he gave in Democratic National Convention held at Boston became one of the most memorable speeches and it soon became a hit among masses.

Year 2008, proved to be the biggest year of Barack Obama’s life, this year he ran for presidential candidate and became the first black president of the United States. He got worldwide media as well as people attention.
